At January 27th, 2010, the Amsterdam team kicked of the new and exciting year. Learning from last year, presenting plans for 2010 and interactive workshops involved the whole team to ensure we make the most out of it. We ended the formal session with a kick-ass exercise: creating the beat on drums & barrels. On huge oil drums and percussion instruments we created together a very, very loud piece of salsa. The people from the neighboring companies were dancing at their desks :-0

At November 25th, about 50 of the top User Experience designers in The Netherlands gathered at the Backbase office for a discussion about User Experience Design and Analytics. The meeting has been organized by Peter Boersma of the Amsterdam UX Cocktail Hours and was powered by the UX team of Backbase. A real Stormtrooper (our colleague Barry) created a lot of excitement in the building:" Did you see him??? I need to have a picture!!" and he welcomed the participants. It was definitely an evening to remember!

Forrester: Backbase is one of the "New Breed Engagement Vendors"

Forrester published an interesting report this month, called "The Online Customer Engagement Software Ecosystem" by Stephen Powers. According to Forrester, (Online) marketing, E-business and Internet professionals will have to use a mix of different technologies from an ecosystem of solution providers. Enterprises see the importance of implementing online customer experience technologies, but according to their client inquiries, "disjointed technology has become a prime factor behind time-to-market issues and the ability to achieve improved online processes." The enterprises simply can't rely anymore on just a WCM or marketing system, they need to mix the technologies to get the best results.

Backbase present @ Best Practices in Retail Banking, USA

The senior executives who attend the Best Practices gathering have long considered it the premiere gathering of its kind. It's the one industry event that year in and year out - now in its 15th year - has always focused squarely on the issues that a retail banking executive's agenda comprises.

This year, those issues are rather different than in the past. Gone are the days when the asset side of the balance sheet took care of itself and it was enough to puzzle over how to maximize deposit gathering. Now, bankers need to think through what it means to have the 'right' model in branch banking, and where services like personal financial management and mobile banking fit in their consumer strategies. Backbase organised together with Colimbra a breakfast session for the financial and insurance companies in The Netherlands. We discussed consumer business and technology trends for this specific vertical with a select group of participants. At an interesting location (HEAT, Amsterdam) both Colimbra and Backbase presented their vision on the future for the online sales channel in the financial industry in The Netherlands.
