Backbase Appoints Charlie Janes as VP and GM of the Americas
Janes Brings Extensive experience in building high-performance field teams in solution-oriented software companies; Aims to help customers leverage the power of Ajax to increase revenues and reduce costs associated with the use of Rich Internet Applications as a strategic asset.
San Mateo, Calif. - August 23rd, 2007 - Backbase, The Ajax Company™, today announced that Charlie Janes has joined the company as Vice President and General Manager of the Americas. Janes has previously worked in sales executives positions at technology companies such as Hyperion, MKS Software, and Rational Software. At Backbase, he will be responsible for field operations and customer success in the Americas.
Janes joins the company at an important juncture. Ajax as the technology for rapid development and deployment of Rich Internet Applications, is being increasingly adopted with millions of developers currently using Ajax technologies. Ajax is also getting increasing attention from corporate users and major software companies such as IBM, Oracle, Google and Yahoo.
Janes joins Backbase from Hyperion, an Enterprise Performance Management Company, where he was vice president of strategic accounts and organized account teams focused on creating business performance management solutions for leading companies in financial services, federal, life science, healthcare, retail, computer, and automotive sectors. Before Hyperion, Janes was vice president Americas at MKS Software, where his team delivered sales growth in excess of 60% in the competitive application lifecycle management market. He also held field leadership and sales positions at Rational Software where his teams exceeded plans for revenue and growth for nine straight years.
