Backbase is a fintech software provider that empowers financial institutions to accelerate their digital transformation and effectively compete in a digital-first world. We are currently looking for a Revenue Controller based in Amsterdam and reporting to the Head of Accounting operations.
What you'll do
As a Revenue Controller, you are responsible for determining the revenue under Dutch GAAP and IFRS for all the revenue streams at Backbase; next, you perform pre/post-closing journal entries, including reconciliations in the general ledger. You run accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close. It is your responsibility to drive continuous system and process improvements with close cooperation with global colleagues.
Who you are
You are an experienced revenue controller with a hands-on approach and can demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Some details:
● You have 7+ years of relevant job experience;
● Master's degree in accounting, CPA, or similar qualification;
● Experience in SaaS Industry is a pre.
● Drive the revenue policy at Backbase to execution, translating the contracts into revenue and billing by liaising with sales operations and other stakeholders.
● Determine all revenue recognition methods under Dutch GAAP and IFRS.
● Ensure recording and reporting of all the revenue streams in NetSuite and approval of Invoices for revenue streams, including recurring revenue.
● Perform pre/post-closing journal entries, including deferred /accrued revenue, reconciliations in the general ledger, and ensure customer records are accurately maintained.
● Run monthly and close year-end processes and be the primary point of contact for external auditors.
● Drive continuous system and process improvements with close cooperation with global colleagues
● Tax: Awareness of tax (WHT and other taxes), understanding local taxes across regions.
● IT savviness; understanding the digital opportunities for your activities to increase efficiency;
● Comfortable in a fluid environment that changes as the business evolves;
● Capable of resourceful problem-solving while remaining customer-focused;
● Ability to alter complex problems with large amounts of data into simple arguments;
● Positive attitude, highly energetic, collaborative team player.
● Fluent in English, written and spoken;
● Experience with ERP systems, preferably NetSuite;
