M&A Contractor - Financial Services Technology
We are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Corporate Development Manager with a deep understanding of the fintech and financial services technology market to lead the discovery work in uncovering potential M&A opportunities. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our CEO and executive leadership team to validate specific hypotheses and assess potential M&A targets. Your primary responsibility will be to identify prospect companies in our target markets, manage the initial conversations and once a real M&A opportunity arises: program manage the overall deal process all the way to closure.
What you'll do
1. Hypothesis Validation: Work closely with our CEO and executive leadership team to understand the specific hypotheses and strategic goals set for M&A opportunities.
2. Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify potential target companies that align with our strategic objectives.
3. Identification of Prospects: Use your industry expertise and network to identify potential M&A targets, including startups, emerging players, and established companies.
4. Outreach and Engagement: Initiate contact with potential target companies, engaging in initial conversations to assess their alignment with our strategic goals and the feasibility of an M&A.
5. Initial Due Diligence: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct preliminary due diligence on identified targets, including financial analysis, market fit, product fit and cultural alignment.
6. Report and Recommendation: Prepare reports outlining the findings, opportunities, and risks associated with potential M&A targets. Provide clear recommendations to the CEO and the executive team for decision-making.
7. Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in target companies and represent Backbase professionally.
8. Confidentiality: Ensure the utmost confidentiality throughout the M&A discovery process.
Who you are
● Industry Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in the fintech or financial services technology industry, with a proven track record in mergers and acquisitions.
● Strategic Thinker: Demonstrated ability to think strategically and align M&A activities with overall business objectives.
● Network: Extensive industry contacts and a strong network of potential target companies and key decision-makers.
● Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and financial modeling skills to evaluate potential opportunities.
● Communication: Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and concepts effectively.
● Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
● Confidentiality: Demonstrated commitment to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.
● Degree: Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field (MBA preferred).
