Atos and Backbase sign global partnership agreement and announce a tier 1 joint win in the Middle East

  • November 25, 2013

Atos, an international information technology services company, and Backbase, the customer experience portal specialist, have announced the signing of a global partnership agreement to enhance sales, service and delivery of both companies. Atos will globally resell and implement Backbase’s Portal Software to multiple financial services customers.

Tier 1 joint win for Atos and Backbase in Middle East confirms the global partnership. Atos will become the preferred partner for one of the largest Islamic banks in the world for their Engagement Banking 3.0 solution based on the Backbase Customer Experience Platform. The exact scope entails: “next generation multi/omni-channel banking platform implementation” and a “3 year contract for the Application Management”.

“We are happy to be able to work with Atos who has long-standing relationships within the financial services industry globally and the technical implementation expertise our customers are looking for. Their “Now Banking” vision on the future of financial services and engagement banking is strongly aligned with our thinking,” said Jouk Pleiter, Backbase CEO.

“Our Global Banking Multi-channel Management Global Delivery Center and our strong global and local expertise and track record in the Financial Services industry, and on Application Management, will assure complete and sustained support. We assure our clients that both our team and the Backbase team are united behind the common objectives of bringing new capabilities powered by our Bank 3.0 vision.” Kuldip Chiheru, Atos Financial Services, global head of strategy and business development.

Web 2.0 is already experiencing the consumerization of banking technology, as customers demand the same user-friendly and social experience from their bank and insurer as they receive from companies like Amazon, Apple and Facebook. The legacy systems inherent in financial institutions have often held them back, unable to respond to the rapid changes caused by the mobile revolution, or the change in customer behavior patterns caused by social networking.

Backbase and Atos understand these challenges and are enabling financial firms worldwide together to provide new digital touch points and ways for users to interact with financial firms. As mobile devices and behavior evolve, Backbase and Atos can offer financials the opportunity to improve the competitive edge, refocus on a user-centered online experience.
