About Mario

I was born in Jamaica, but I grew up in sunny Miami, Florida. I took a job here in Atlanta working for and Advertising agency 15 years ago and I've been here ever since. I've been working in UI/UX design for the past seventeen years.

In my spare time I enjoy music, basketball and I did martial arts for several years. Although I don’t train as intensely as I used to, it's still my favorite way to work out.

Tell us about your job. What do you do at Backbase?

At Backbase, I work with our customers to help them design and develop their web and mobile applications using our platform. This means that I introduce them to our Design Kit, train their internal team and consult with them on how to achieve a human-centered design. My main goal is to empower our clients to deliver world-class digital experiences.

I’m excited about the growth and potential of Backbase and I'm glad that I get to be a part of that. I'm excited that with the work I do here I can help improve a person or their family's financial health.

What do your parents / children think you do?

To quote my mom "my son works with computers." I might need to do some more explaining 🤓

What brought you to Backbase?

Atlanta has a vibrant and fast-growing tech scene and fintech is a large part of that. It’s an area that I’ve been interested in for quite some time after working on a few projects when I was with Deloitte. I knew this was an industry I wanted to work in and that's when I came across Backbase. I also knew a couple of people that worked for Backbase and realized it would be a great experience.
