Q&A with Mehmet, Partner Business Middle East & Africa

I have been a Turkish expat in Dubai since 2012 and enjoy the 12 months summertime here:)

Since my career brought me to the United Arab Emirates, I have gotten used to living in this country.

I am an Industrial Engineer with a Masters in Management Information Systems and my education background has helped me to grow my career in the technology field. Most of my previous experience was in the Financial Sector with experience in different regions like Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Asia.

I find myself lucky that I love my job and that helps my energy level to keep up with new challenges in every responsibility that I take over.

Other than work, I am a guitar player and singer that has performed live in many different cities and countries over the last 20 years.

In my daily life, I constantly try to keep my sports habits up like freestyle workout, boxing and calisthenics training.

Tell us about your job. What do you do at Backbase?

I look after partnerships in Backbase to support the growth in the Middle East and Africa region.

Business partners like global system Integrators, strategy firms, cloud platform vendors, and regional go to market partners are crucial for Backbase partner growth strategy and I manage relationships with them believing that "We Are Stronger Together".

What brought you to Backbase?

What advice would you give to someone who's interested in joining Backbase's partner team?

First of all, I would advise you to take the opportunity to be part of a great growing company like Backbase and a growing partner business team. The business partners that we work with are first-class technology fintech companies and the quality of business that we manage is unique. So, the person needs to be ready for the challenge to drive his own show and growth in his/her region.

What do your friends think you do?

Ohh! I think it is difficult to know this but I would assume that most of them think; I enjoy my life because I really like what I do and my friends can see this impact in my personal life too 🙂

If you could do another job for a day, what would that be and why?

I could enjoy being a musician and performing in concerts to keep my life joyful 🙂

I see music as something that makes me extremely happy and the energy that you share with the people around you is a great feeling. It's not just about a wish but since I have already experienced a light version of this life in my earlier ages and it makes me feel amazing, that could be another job for me to prefer.
