What do you do at Backbase?

I am a Principal Backend Engineer for the Customer Success team at Hyderabad BDC. Being a CS Department Engineer, my role is to implement the Backbase product and develop customizations as per the client’s requirements. Supporting to strengthen the India BDC and Backbase’s presence in the region is an additional responsibility which am excited about.

How did you come across Backbase?

As an organization, Backbase was known to me during my career at a major banking firm based in the Netherlands but I never knew that I would get an opportunity to work at Backbase. When the recruitment team approached me for an exciting role at the India BDC, I was excited to know about Backbase’s presence in India and the role. Being into backend development and experience in Banking assignments, it was interesting to learn about the platform that Backbase provides to its clients. Jouk Pleiter’s (our CEO) tech talk on Engagement Banking Platform and Customer-Centric Technologymade me interested to explore grow and helped me decide to be part of such a vision, thereby enhancing my skills and contributing my best.

What did your 1st month in the job look like?

Exciting is what I would like to mention. A week-long virtual onboarding never made me feel bored with the fun involved in daily Kahoot challenges. The technical onboarding thereafter is perfectly planned with dedicated learning paths and trails to get anyone acquainted with product tech and terminology. The first month was all about getting familiar with the organization, product features, and tech stack.

What are 3 words you would describe working at Backbase?

Challenging, Enthusiastic, and Competitive.

What do you like most about the job?

Being a techie, it is an opportunity to witness how technology actually transforms banking and customer experiences. Building banks that people love means a lot from a technology perspective. Designing and developing software with customer-centric approaches is what I like most about my job. Then comes the energetic and versatile talent that I get to work with together to achieve Backbase’s vision.
