Objectives

Wahda Bank wants to be the bank Libya's businesses and households reach for first. The bank already provides many banking services through its online channels. Through its partnership with Backbase, it aims to bring these services together on one platform, making banking easier and more convenient for both business and retail customers. With the central bank moving the market onto electronic payments, Wahda Bank set out to put those journeys in its customers' hands.

Solution

Wahda Bank partnered with Backbase and is building both lines of business on one platform, Arabic-first throughout. Ready-made journeys shorten the path to launch, and open SDKs leave the bank's engineers free to build what sets it apart. Businesses will open an account online, then run payroll, bill payments and invoices from one app. Branch and contact centre staff work from one servicing workspace, with the platform connected to the bank's existing core and to Libya's instant payment rails.

Wahda Bank has been a major contributor to Libya’s economic growth and has consistently been at the forefront of digital transformation in the country. Our partnership with Backbase is the next step on that path. Together, we will give our business and retail customers Arabic-first digital banking on a platform our own engineers will keep extending.
