Meet our graduates

Llewelyn Taylor

Junior Backend engineer

I chose Backbase because throughout the interview process it was clear that they valued employee growth and progression. As a graduate this made Backbase very appealing due to the opportunity for training via the training budget, training sessions held by colleagues and the scheduled weekly personal development time. This made Backbase a very unique proposition and was exactly what I wanted from a Graduate Program.

So far I have enjoyed the program, my team have been very welcoming and have helped me to settle in quickly. I have attended various training sessions from Agile to Kubernetes and I was able to subscribe to Pluralsight using my training budget to further help me advance my knowledge. I look forward to finishing this program and continuing to have a successful career here at Backbase.

Rebekah Davies

Frontend engineer

The most unique thing about the program was being able to experience the different roles that Backbase has to offer. I had 3 months experience in QA, Frontend, Backend and as a PO, allowing me to chose which role IO would prefer upon finishing my grad year.

The program is an excellent introduction to work as a software dev (or even as a QA or PO). Each role came with a mentor as well as the usual buddy, which was great to have that support from a technical point of view. It’s also great for those like me who had a full stack education and may have not yet chosen which role you would like to work as, Due to being able to have experience working in all the sectors and giving a more well rounded view of how each role works, it made the choice easier with experience in each role. Each role also gave me time to learn more in depth about how the company works structurally (value streams and tribes), and more about the frameworks used in each role. For example, the front end uses Angular which before the grad scheme, I did not have any experience in. The front end role allowed me to learn the framework and experience it in a real world environment starting with smaller sized tickets and working up to more complicated ones.

Upon finishing the grad scheme I chose the front end role, becoming a Junior Front end developer , and have since been promoted to mid level.
