Backbase India and Youth for Seva are bringing Lab on Wheels to 100 government schools across Hyderabad, giving students in underserved communities their first hands-on experience with science.

Hyderabad, 27 May 2026Β - Backbase India announced a Corporate Social Responsibility partnership with Youth for Seva, a non-profit organization focused on education for underserved communities across India. The collaboration sponsors Lab on Wheels, a mobile science laboratory that travels directly to government schools in Hyderabad. The program addresses a real gap: students in underserved schools often have no access to laboratory equipment or hands-on science learning.
Lab on Wheels is a four-wheel vehicle fitted with the equipment of a full science laboratory. It visits 100 government schools across Hyderabad, giving students the chance to touch, experiment with, and explore basic science concepts in person. The aim is to spark genuine interest in STEM subjects at an age when curiosity shapes long-term choices.
The partnership is funded through Backbase India's contribution of 2% of local profit to a qualifying non-profit, in line with India's corporate social responsibility regulations. Backbase selected Youth for Seva and the Lab on Wheels program specifically because it connects to the company's broader belief that the next generation of engineers, scientists, and technologists needs early, hands-on exposure to build the skills the future demands.
Jodi Slomp, Chief People Officer at Backbase:
"We chose this program because it mirrors something we believe deeply at Backbase: that real learning happens when you get your hands on something. The students visiting Lab on Wheels are growing up in a world where AI and engineering will simply be part of daily life. Giving them early exposure to science, to experimentation, to the idea that they can build things, is an investment worth making."
