We are seeking an experienced and strategic Software Engineering Director to lead multiple engineering teams, shape engineering practices across the value stream, and drive technical and delivery excellence at scale.
As an AI-native technology leader, you will influence architecture, delivery strategy, organisational structure, RFC governance, and operational readiness. You will work closely with Product, Architecture, and other Engineering Directors to ensure alignment, predictability, and innovation across the portfolio.
This role requires a strong mix of technical depth, organizational leadership, and strategic execution.
What you'll do
You will be the core technology leader responsible for the strategic technology vision, execution, and operational excellence of all engineering efforts within the Digital Assist Value Stream. Your leadership will directly influence the development of employee-facing applications and toolkits, core banking services, and innovative digital products.
Define and execute the technical roadmap for Digital Assist, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and customer needs.
Lead, mentor, and grow a diverse organization of engineering managers and teams, fostering a high-performance engineering culture focused on inclusion and innovation.
Establish and enforce best-in-class engineering standards, including modern DevOps, cloud-native architecture, and secure software development practices.
Collaborate intensively with Product, Design, and business stakeholders to prioritize initiatives and ensure the timely delivery of high-value solutions.
Provide deep technical guidance on system architecture, operational resilience, security, and scalability for all assisted-service products.
Manage budgets, resource allocation, and vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective and strategic technology investments.
Who you are
We are seeking a visionary technology leader with a strong background in developing scalable, secure, and customer-centric platforms. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses a passion for driving transformation in the financial services sector, particularly focused on bank employees.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years managing multiple engineering teams and managers in a leadership capacity.
- Ideally proven expertise in leading engineering teams within Banking, Fintech, or Financial Services, with a clear understanding of the bank employee customer journeys.
-Deep technical knowledge of modern cloud architectures (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, API strategy, and contemporary programming paradigms.
-Demonstrated experience in implementing and scaling Agile methodologies, CI/CD, and driving engineering excellence in high-volume, high-availability environments.
-Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, data privacy, and security best practices relevant to retail financial services.
-Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical strategies to both technical and non-technical executive stakeholders.
