Engineering Manager
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead high-performing, cross-functional development teams. This role combines technical expertise, delivery excellence, and people leadership to ensure teams build robust, scalable software aligned with business objectives.
As an AI-native leader, you will be pivotal in driving AI adoption across our Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and product strategy, ensuring our engineering practices remain modern, efficient, and future-ready.
What you'll do
Key Responsibilities
People & Performance
- Lead, coach, and develop multi-disciplinary Agile teams (typically 6–8 engineers per team).
- Create an inclusive, engaging environment with a strong engineering culture.
- Drive performance and talent development through clear feedback, coaching, and formal reviews.
- Oversee local/global hiring and onboarding to build teams with balanced technical competencies and seniority.
- Address underperformance swiftly and constructively.
Engineering Excellence
- Champion high-quality software delivery through modern engineering practices (CI/CD, test automation, observability, quality gates).
- Provide localised technical leadership ensuring guild guidelines are effectively implemented.
- Act as the technical leader guiding your team’s output and direction.
Lead teams to achieve production-readiness and robust release management practices.
Process & Delivery
- Ensure teams have the optimal processes, workflows, and tooling for success.
- Deliver commitments on time, enabling fast feedback loops with stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement in delivery capabilities, operating models, and tooling.
- Promote visibility and transparency through effective project tracking and communication.
Product & Value Focus
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Domain Architects to translate business requirements into technical outcomes.
- Motivate teams to deliver high-value work that balances immediate needs with long-term strategic goals.
- Champion customer-centricity through data-driven insights, feedback loops, and usability.
AI-Native Mindset
- Proactively explore, experiment with, and apply AI tools and agentic frameworks (e.g., code generation, test automation, developer productivity).
- Encourage AI adoption within engineering workflows and product capabilities.
- Partner with AI/ML SMEs to embed AI into value delivery across our SDLC.
Who you are
- BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in people management.
- Proven experience with Agile delivery, CI/CD pipelines, and quality-focused development.
- Track record of building and scaling teams, processes, and product impact.
- Experience leading mobile and backend development teams is essential.
- Highly likely you have been a Principal or Staff Engineer prior to transitioning into an Engineering Manager role.
- Experience with identity management systems or related domains is desirable.
- Exposure to banking, payments, or SaaS is advantageous.
